Hello
July 6th, 2010Hi, this is my first post, but it really isn’t me. My daddy is posting this for me…
Updated blog
June 28th, 2010Just installed new blog software.
Where did the year go?
August 18th, 2008I’d been putting off scheduling pictures – all sorts of excuses – hot weather, lack of time, sick kids, bumps and bruises.?
Friday was my day off (we work 80 hours in 9 days, giving us every other Friday off), so I had the kids home with me.? Everyone was in a good mood, so I called Portrait Innovations, got an appointment and had to get us packed & to SeeTheRabbits Cedar Rapids? in an hour.? To see some of the results, head here.
The year has went by so quickly.? The good – first smile, first wave, first laugh, new teeth, first foods, and even a first overnight.? The bad – first bruise, first cut, first ER visit, first flood and lots of illnesses.? Our little boy may look? identical to? his older sister, but he is definitely his own unique precious? self.?
During this year, J has been both a challenge and an advantage while interacting with S.? She definitely knows which buttons to push to get him screaming, crying or laughing.? She just needs to learn his moods a bit more, so that we maximize the laughter!J is looking forward to returning to school, seeing her friends, meeting her new teacher and breaking in the most recent addition to the district.? We checked out the school on Saturday during Open House.? It has a terrific floor plan.? Hopefully the desks arrive today so that they can be assembled before classes are in session on Wednesday!I have a feeling more firsts will be arriving shortly…the first fundraiser (for S’s daycare & for the new school), the first solo steps, the first bruise from the new playground, the first Tooth Fairy visit…which all leads to the next year being as action-packed as the last!
Life’s a Drag
June 7th, 2008We’re on our way home from Joliet. It was Jayden’s first drag race. She had a blast. She got a new cap and stood in line to meet her favorite driver – Ashley Force. Ashley signed her cap and took a picture with her (and Dad). Then the cap made its way to John Force‘s pit for a signature (initials…).
Then Dad checked out the US Smokeless trailer (no kids allowed), where he was the only one to recognize Larry Dixon and had a nice chat with him. Too bad Dad had passed up wearing his old L D cap thinking he’d get a new one. There’s no signature for proof. *kidding*
Back up in the stands to watch the final session. We saw Cory Mac get into the Finals before the sprinkles started. I’d been using the Blackberry to keep an eye on the weather & a heathly storm was coming. We decided to make a run for the car and head for home.
So now we’re in the car – hair beginning to dry – after a stop at Wally World (which I’ve successfully avoided for months) for dry clothes, shoes and towels. J is writing lists of her favorite drivers (Erica
Enders is still on it) and quizzing us about obscure things – “what was your favorite show when you were a baby?”..
We’ll pit stop for gas & food once we reach the border. Maybe the keyed up kid will sleep a bit. Or maybe not.
So that’s my “official” first blog entry (the others with my name were not mine). I’ll try it again sometime soon. And come back later to add the few pictures from the day.
Spring is here
April 20th, 2008I’m still not posting enough, so I just thought I would let everybody know that we finally have spring weather.?
Winter Weather…
February 5th, 2008It seems that winter will keep coming this year. On Sunday, about 8 inches of the white stuff fell. That meant that school was cancelled for the second time this year on Monday. Now, we are supposed to get another 6-10″ tonight. We’ll see how that turns out.? If it happens, probably no school again tomorrow.
